On the morning of March 5, 2026, Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology (HUHST) held a faculty and staff meeting for the 2026 spring semester at the university gymnasium. University leaders who were on campus, along with all faculty and staff, attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Liu Tiefeng, member of the CPC HUHST Committee and Vice President of HUHST.

At the meeting, Zhu Qiang, Deputy Secretary of the CPC HUHST Committee, read out the commendation decision for outstanding collectives and individuals in 2025. University leaders presented awards to the honored units and individuals.

Hu Kaibo, Secretary of the CPC HUHST Committee, delivered the concluding remarks. He reviewed the new breakthroughs made by the university in 2025 in Party-led development, talent cultivation, faculty development, research innovation, service to local development, and the improvement of campus conditions. He noted that the university should examine in depth the new situation and challenges facing its development from four perspectives: understanding broader development trends, aligning with national strategies, serving Hunan’s development blueprint, and staying rooted in Loudi. He pointed out that 2026 marks the opening year of the 15th Five-Year Plan period, a crucial year for the university to press ahead with its application for authorization to confer master’s degrees, and a key year for advancing the follow-up work of inspection rectification. All faculty and staff should take the initiative and break new ground with a strong sense of responsibility, crisis awareness, and urgency. The university must uphold the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, respond to the new trend of technology-empowered education, and accelerate its high-quality development through both continuity and innovation.

Hu made comprehensive arrangements for the university’s key tasks in the new year in five areas. First, the university will strengthen the overall leadership of the Party and further consolidate the foundation for high-quality development. Efforts will be made to carry out study and education on establishing and practicing a correct view of performance and achievements, advance inspection rectification, deepen full and strict Party self-governance, strengthen the leadership capacity of university- and school-level leadership teams and the professional competence of administrative staff, develop distinctive Party building brands, safeguard the ideological front, and bring together the strengths of united front work and mass organizations. Second, the university will uphold the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education and comprehensively improve the quality of talent cultivation. It will advance the ideological and political education enhancement project, optimize its program structure, improve the quality of undergraduate education and teaching, and strengthen admissions and employment work. Third, the university will deepen reform in all respects and improve the efficiency of internal governance, with reforms in planning and design, institutional setup and staffing, management personnel and human resources, scientific research, and internal control systems. Fourth, the university will enhance its core competitiveness and accelerate its development into an application-oriented university with distinctive strengths. It will advance discipline development in a differentiated way, press ahead with its application for authorization to confer master’s degrees, deepen organized research and innovation, build a new highland for industry-education integration, further implement the strategy of strengthening the university through talent, and expand open education. Fifth, the university will strengthen support systems and comprehensively improve service and support capacity. This will involve broadening revenue sources and reducing unnecessary expenditure to strengthen financial capacity, improving basic infrastructure and facilities, continuing to advance the “Alumni Returning to Hunan” initiative, and further promoting the development of a safe campus. Hu called on all faculty and staff to take the lead with initiative, press forward with energy, and keep going with perseverance. He encouraged them to unite in purpose and press ahead with resolve, so as to achieve new breakthroughs and advances in the university’s development and write a new chapter of high-quality development.
