HUHST Successfully Hosts Finals of the 2025 Hunan Fencing Championship

From January 1 to 3, 2026, the 2025 Hunan Fencing Championship Finals, sponsored by the Hunan Fencing Association and jointly organized by Hunan University of Humanities, Science and Technology (HUHST) and the Loudi Fencing Association, were successfully held at the university gymnasium. This marked the first time that HUHST had hosted the finals of a provincial-level fencing event.

As an important annual youth fencing event in Hunan, the championship spanned several months and included qualifying rounds in Changde, Zhuzhou, and Yiyang before bringing together more than 700 athletes from 18 clubs across the province. The competition featured men’s and women’s foil, epee, and saber events across seven age groups. The event reached a recent high in both scale and professional standards.

To ensure the smooth running of the event, the School of Physical Education at HUHST worked closely with relevant departments and units to make careful arrangements for venue coordination, logistical support, volunteer services, and event promotion. The organization of the event was well received by the sponsor, participating teams, and technical officials. During the competition, a team composed of students majoring in sports training at HUHST demonstrated strong competitive performance and good sportsmanship, winning the team championships in the open-division foil and epee events.

Hosting the event demonstrated HUHST’s commitment to serving the development of regional sports and fully showcased the university’s comprehensive capacity in organizing and supporting large-scale sporting events. The university will continue to draw on its professional expertise and resources, strengthen cooperation with sports associations at all levels as well as local education and sports authorities, and further expand professional practice platforms for faculty and students by hosting high-level sporting events. These efforts will help deepen discipline development and improve the effectiveness of talent cultivation.
